On October 5, 2016 in ‘Cēsu alus’, Cesis Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia (LBAS) with cooperation of Friedrich Ebert Foundation organized the regional discussion ‘Role and challenges of trade unions in promoting qualitative workplaces’.
Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia (LBAS) supports the call by its affiliated union – the Latvian Health and Social Care Employees Trade Union (LVSADA) to organise a protest action on the 29th of September 2016 at 11.00 in front of the Parliament Building (the Saeima) in Riga.
On the 19th of April Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia (LBAS) at its Steering Committee meeting took a unanimous decision: to hold people’s meeting-manifestation "Decent Work for Healthy and Educated People in Latvia". The manifestation will take place on the 1st of May at 11.00 in Riga, Dome Square.
According to the European Commission Country Report Latvia 2016 despite improving employment numbers a relatively large proportion of young people enters the labour market without necessary professional qualifications (i.e. with only basic or general secondary education).
Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia with the support of Friedrich Ebert Foundation on 28th October in Riga and on 4th November in Jelgava organized discussion cycle about quality jobs, needs of labour force and the role of trade unions.
Today Trade Union of Health and Social Care Employees of Latvia (LVSADA) organised a meeting at the Parliament of Latvia (Saeima) to protest against inadequate financing in the state budget 2016 for health care as today the Parliament has the first reading of the state budget proposal for 2016.
